Talk Personal Finance – December 2015

Happy holidays everyone!

It has definitely been a while since my last Talk Personal Finance post and I think it would be a good idea to start it back up again.

For those who are new to my blog, this is where I talk about various things in finance that are relevant in my life. You may find some of these topics relevant to yourself or you may not but I see this as an excellent opportunity to update everyone on what is on my mind.

Here is what I have been up to in December:

2015 is coming to an end!

With the end of the year fast approaching, I had been doing a lot of self-reflection and finance planning.

Although I will be doing a more thorough reflection of my 2015 goals later on in this month, the short version is that I did not succeed in completing most of what I wanted to get done this year.

I have concluded that the reason for this could be either my goals are too aggressive or my performance was not up to par. I will definitely look into this further.

Just curious, did you or will you meet all your financial goals for 2015?

My transition to part-time employment

I am also starting to settle in to my new job. With more free time on my hands, I am trying to be more productive in life and this involves using my time more wisely.

Previously, I was working at a full-time job that was detrimental my health and emotional wellbeing. I knew that if I wanted to achieve financial freedom, something had to change. This was essentially the reason why I transitioned to part-time even though the decision was not a popular one.

Currently, I am working 4 days a week and I couldn’t be happier. Actually, truth be told I think I would be happier the day I start working 3 days a week but I think I’ll just take it one step at a time for now.

With that being said, I gave a lot of thought about life lately. I know that I have said this a few times already but although finance is important, I can’t help but think that there is more to life than just money and I am determined to figure out what that is.

Commitment to self-improvement

One of the commitments that I’ve made for the new year would be the pursuance of personal growth.

I believe that not only will this help me make progression in life but it would also help me improve my financial skills as well. I am currently in the middle of developing my plan in becoming a better person towards the people around me.

Anyhow, if anyone has managed to reach this point of the post, I thank you for bearing with me. For some reason, every year in December, I always like to start reflecting on my life.

That’s it for now! Does anyone else feel like December is the month to start doing some self-reflection or is it just me? I’d love to hear from you. 🙂
