Talk Personal Finance 2017 – Week 6

Welcome to my Talk Personal Finance series!

It has definitely been a while since the last one and I’d thought that it would be time for an update. If you are new to my blog, this is the place where I will be letting out my financial and blogging rants.

One thing that I’ve noticed as I am writing this is that I haven’t had a Talk Personal Finance since October of last year. This is definitely not a good thing! I will try to write more of these from now on.

Anyways, here is what I have been up to as of late:

Talk Personal Finance in Video Blogs?

One idea in maintaining consistency on TPF is to start making them into videos. I’ve always wanted to create some videos for my blog but just never gotten the chance to start it.

The plan is to create a short 5 to 10-minute video every month where I will rant about random personal finance things. These videos will be educational and I will discuss relevant financial topics on Million Endeavour.

Plus, I don’t see many finance bloggers out there with videos of themselves talking. Hopefully, this will make my blog stand out a little more.

A goal that I have set for myself is to one day be featured on Ted Talks. Making this video will give me some practice in public speaking and comfort behind a camera.

The Ask Financial Questions Forum

Another thing that I have been working on for the last little while is the re-launch of my forum. Instead of the old forum which is seemingly hard to navigate and use, I have updated it to a simple Q and A forum.

This new design is not only more modern but it is extremely easy to use. The purpose of the forum remains the same: to build a community for people to ask and answer personal finance questions.

If you haven’t had the chance to visit the forum yet, you may do so here. I would love to see your help in contributing to the forum. I am also looking for a personal finance blogger who would like to partner in making this forum a success. If this is something that interests you, please give me a shout out.

The Niche Site Project

About 2 months ago, I ventured on a niche site project which I thought would be my next big idea. Turns out that idea was a major flop.

Not only have I stopped working on the site after a few days, I have run out of ideas on what else to do with the site. I’d figure where I went wrong was that I did not properly think this through before starting it. I just jumped right into the deep end without having a proper plan.

For now, I will put the niche site project to the side while I pursue other endeavours. Don’t worry, I will revisit this once again in the future. Hopefully that would be some time soon.

Moving Forward

These are some of the things that I have been thinking and working on for the last few weeks. I have also noticed that blog post frequency has decreased in the last couple of months.

Consistency is the key to maintaining a blog and I will try to post more often. However, this can be quite the challenge especially since I would like to deliver quality material and those are hard to come by.

Overall, 2017 has been off to a decent start. Even though I have made some progress, I have also spent tons of hours on quadrant 4 (time wasters) activities such as watching TV and playing video games. I will do my best to minimize this as the year progresses.
