The Beauty of Waking Up Early

It has been about two weeks since I have returned from my trip to Singapore and I have noticed big changes in my sleep pattern.

Prior to my departure, I was a night owl. My sleep circadian rhythm was really messed up and I wouldn’t go to bed until 4am the earliest.

However, seeing the time zone in Singapore is 24 hours ahead of my current time zone, I assumed that my sleep pattern would remain the same upon my return. I was quite pleasantly surprised that this was not the case.

The Transition to Waking Up Early

I don’t know whether it was the jet lag or something else that I have experienced on my trip, but I am finding it difficult to stay past 10 pm now.

I would always tell myself that I was just going to take a one or two-hour nap but always end up not being able to wake up until 5am.

At first, this was nothing but new territory that I had not ventured in before. I could almost say that I had been a night owl for the majority of my life.

As opposed to what was different from staying up late, I could say that waking up earlier gave me the illusion that I had more time than I did before to do whatever I had to do.

Getting an Early Start

The biggest difference for me in terms of waking up earlier was that I have noticed that my productivity was off the charts in the morning. I had done more in one morning in terms of finance and personal development then I would have an entire week of staying up late.

In the ideal world, I would love for me to maintain this schedule. It felt like I have found a secret recipe to keeping myself in flow of achieving my goals in life. Unfortunately, you know what they say, old habits are hard to get rid of. In the mean time, I would like to keep this going for as long as I can.

Waking up early also gave me a different feel to life. Instead of flirting with the dark skies, I have gain more exposure to the sun. This has made a dramatic improvement to my mood and outlook in life.

Although, I cannot promise that you will experience the same thing as I did by waking up early because every one operates differently but it is definitely worth giving it a try!
